Dinner for Schmucks is the kind of movie that indulges both the business filled smart world to the comical idiot world. The combination of Steve Carrel and Zack Galifianakis was made the movie great. They perfectly portray two people who have extensive imaginations and clearly show their inner idiot. Both of their reputations of being hilarious have certainly shown to be true.
Also, I thought that the combination of the boring businessman, Paul Rudd, with the outgoing idiot, Steve Carrel, was very unique and made the movie interesting. There are times in the movie when Paul is very serious while Steve is doing a great job of just turning it into a great big laugh.
There are certain scenes in the movie that are just unforgettable because of how funny and how stupid it is at the same time. It is definitely Steve Carrel at his finest. His acting in the movie was fantastic. He has now recently been nominated for a Golden Satellite Award for Best actor in a motion picture, Comedy or Musical.
The movie itself is a copy of the french movie, Diner des Cons. I have seen both movies and they both have different kinds of comedy within the movie. Also, Dinner for Schmucks is more Americanized and uses more current American teenage comedy views. The kind of comedy that is shown through some very stupid things such as hitting someone or just being a flat out knucklehead. They were both good in my opinion and when I watched them both, I had some good laughs.
Although the actors were great, the comedy in the movie is all over the place. Some of it has to be thought about while others are just plain out obvious. There are many that would go against some of the stupid comedy that is shown in the movie. But, I would certainly consider watching this movie again with friends if I get the chance. Overall, the movie does a good job of making that boring Sunday night into a fun, laughing-filled night with your friends.
