A team of exceptional bank robbers, formed of A.J. (Hayden Christensen), Gordon Jennings (Idris Elba), John Rahway (Paul Walker) and brothers Jake (Michael Ealy) and Jesse Attica (Chris Brown) manages to rob with success several banks. Their heists are perfect and the police have no lead or clue on how to capture them. These bank robbers meticulously plan every robbery and treat is a business plan that works. They are extremely careful not to leave any evidence behind and they fence the money in order to get it clean. Another rule of the team is to have a low profile for one year between robberies to avoid drawing unwanted attention to them. A former member of the team, Ghost (T.I. Harris) is released from prison on parole and convinces the team on a heist of an armored car for a $30 million payoff.
Although the heist doesn’t go as smooth as planned, the team is able to make off with the money. Jack Welles (Matt Dillon) and Eddie Hatcher (Jay Hernandez) are two detectives investigating the robberies and spot Jesse during his getaway. As Jesse is cornered he shoots Hatcher who dies from his wounds. Jesse reunites with the rest of the team at a hotel room where are attacked by Russian gangsters who try to eliminate them except for Ghost who got away earlier through a window. Ghost had a deal with the Russians in exchange for half of the heist take. Jake kills the Russians and return home with Jesse. When their home is surrounded by the police they decide to commit suicide by cop. Gordon and John gets separated during their escape. Ghost plans to takes their money held by a fence, Scott (Johnathon Schaech). Ghost kills Scott and takes the money in two suitcases. Gordon and Welles arrive and Ghost manages to shoot both Gordon and Welles. Finally, John arrives and shoots Ghost dead and drive off with the injured Gordon and the money. Welles, badly injured, calls for help on 911 on his cell phone. The movie ends without revealing if Gordon or Welles survive.
