Enthusiastic, big and somewhat clumsy, Po is the biggest fan of Kung Fu. Server in the noodle shop of his father, his skill is still unproven. Chosen to fulfill an ancient prophecy, Po’s dreams become reality when he joins the world of Kung Fu to learn martial arts with his idols, the legendary Furious Five: Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey under the command their teacher and trainer, Master Shifu. But Tai Lung, the treacherous snow leopard, who is animated by a desire for vengeance, is fast approaching and it is Po who will defend the valley against this growing threat. Will his dream of becoming a master of Kung Fu become a reality? Po puts his heart – and his girth – into the task and the unlikely hero ultimately finds that his greatest weakness is actually its greatest strength.
The naivete mixed with the malice of Bruce Lee and this debonair big eater is a definite asset that brings the whole family together for this unpretentious comedy. With the highlight being a magnificent scene of learning kung fu between Po and his master is, without doubt, a nice use of technology in the art of the cartoon that we haven’t seen in years.
This new film from Dreamworks had several challenges. First, show that the studio has finally managed to catch up with fluid movements of Pixar. On this ground, kung-fu does not forgive. And it’s very successful, as is the rendering of textures and the attention to decor, a real tribute to the saturated colors and traditional China.
The film, beautiful, succeeds in restoring the speed of the fighting
scenes and delivers breathtaking power. With the humor of Jack Black and more, it becomes quite tasty.
