Fans of hardcore action cinema tend to forgive action flicks with a wafer-thin plot as long as their sequences are impressive and slick enough. If there is a well structured plot in addition to some great action, then action fans are known to devour such a flick multiple times. Joe Carnahan`s The A-Team is not cult cinema for sure. But neither does it have a wafer-thin plot that demands forgiveness. However, if this action extravaganza did have a sorry plot, then action movie enthusiasts would have gladly forgiven it because it scores really high on the action front.
The A-Team does not pretend to be anything else other than a smart hardcore action movie. It knows it is no award-winning piece of cinema. But it also knows how to entertain those members of the audience who are in the theater to just have some fun and laughs with their family and friends. It does not let you get bored even once during its 117 minutes running time. Considering that most movies fail to achieve even this, The A-team certainly deserves applause and a watch.
While Patrick Wilson and Liam Neeson impress with their performances, all the other actors including Bradley Cooper and Jessica Biel play their parts well enough too. The direction is sleek, the screenplay is tight and pacey, if not awesome, the dialogues are smart and often giggle-inducing and the background score compliments the atmosphere of the movie well.
All in all, The A-Team is a movie that can easily be enjoyed with your group of friends over some fistfuls of popcorn and mugs of booze. Remember to not delve deep into meaning and relevance, or you run the risk of being disappointed. But if you keep your expectations low, you would definitely see the credits roll with a smile on your face.
